CCPL Brooklyn

Access Floor Specialists was able to team up with Panzica Construction, and Bialosky Architects to complete the Cuyahoga County Public Library: Brooklyn Branch. This Under Floor Air Design (UFAD) job used the raised access floor and the concrete subfloor as the HVAC plenum for clean conditioned air can enter the occupied space. The mechanical equipment for this job resides in the basement in the southeast corner of the building. AFS was able to build an “air highway” under the floor to direct air from the SE corner throughout the floor plate so every section of the library is appropriately supplied and temperatures are balanced. By eliminating overhead duct work the high ceiling create opportunities for aerial features to be implemented. Brooklyn branch even includes a fireplace and unique lighting fixtures masquerading as a flock of birds over the adult collection.
